Sheba Youth Platform aims to spread awareness among young people of issues of peace, media, social entrepreneurship and technology. By organizing different sessions, a young man or woman from Yemen or the region was hosted in each of the sessions held on a weekly basis through ZOOM application to talk about his or her experience in community work and entrepreneurial activities. This project was implemented during the beginning of Covid-19 outbreak, which affected people’s lives and led to the disruption of their businesses in reality, making a large number of young people transfer to the virtual world. This project came from the belief of Sheba Youth Foundation in the importance of using various tools and different techniques to go on with its vision of empowering youth and women, whatever the circumstances are. This project was self-financed by the Foundation.

This project aims to enhance and activate the role of the Yemeni youth in the field of political participation and peace building in Yemen. It is a national youth platform consisting of 11 civil society organizations led by youth from different areas in Yemen. The first phase of the project during the year 2020 was to build the capacities of the partner institutions in the platform, and the most important trainings carried out were: Intensive training in the areas of Participatory Action Research (PAR) and writing public policy papers by Issam Fares Institute in the American University of Beirut (AUB). Training in the field of team management and building community change by Ahel Organization, Amman, Jordan. Training on youth, security and peace issues by Search for Common Ground-SFCG. Training on managing social media platforms and advocating for public affairs issues, implemented by FE-MALE Foundation, Beirut , Lebanon. Training on conflict sensitivity during the implementation of peace building projects, implemented by (YCSP) Yemen Conflict Sensitivity Platform of SFCG. Training in the field of gender and gender-based sensitivity during project implementation. In addition, a number of webinars and cultural seminars related to youth, peace and security issues were also coordinated, in which a number of local and international experts from Yemen, Lebanon, Tunisia, South Africa, America and other countries were hosted. As part of the platform’s activities to enhance the role of youth in political participation, especially the role of youth in participating in the first track of peace building and ending the conflict in the country, the platform worked on issuing a policy paper entitled “The Role of the UN Envoy in Youth Participation in the First Track of Peace building.” Its activities for the year 2021 include developing a strategic advocacy plan to advocate and communicate the recommendations concluded in the paper. This Project aims to know the needs of young girls, as they are a neglected group. That is, they are neither included in the programs and projects that target the youth nor in those that target the women. The first phase of the project was designed to be a phase of listening from girls to learn more about them and their needs. And in order to reach as much information about them as possible, a number of interactive focus sessions were carried out with 40 girls in Taiz, Hadhramout and Sana’a governorates. Then an integrated report about the needs of this group was produced, leading us to the second phase of the project, which was to design program interventions that are compatible with the empowerment and development of the capabilities of this group. Qudwa project aims to promote the role of women in enhancing community coherence by building their capacities in peace building and conflict transformation issues. After selecting a group of leader women, they were trained on the following topics: Peace building concepts and conflict transformation skills. Skills of facilitating social dialogues and social communication. Advocacy skills. International conventions.   After completing the intensive training, a community council was formed to solve social issues and promote the principles of community peace. In the beginning, in order to launch the work of the council, two service facilities in the city were selected. Their suspending or operating improperly led to instability or violence. Those facilities were: Nema Rassam School and the School Health Center in the city. The women went to those facilities and helped repair them and provide them with the equipment needed for their work, as well as accommodate the largest number of male and female students in order to keep them from going to any other places. This project was sponsored by GIZ – Yemen Office.

TE:D program aims to provide Yemeni students aging 14-19 with an opportunity for a digital cultural exchange with students from the United States of America. Lasting for eight weeks, the program provided the participants with a number of trainings on the following topics: Strategic planning Writing project proposals Work of civil society organizations Community work and the formation of community initiatives At the end of the program, participants were asked to submit project proposals for community and development interventions, which would get small grants. This program was implemented in partnership with “Scholarship Advisors Initiative” with funding from “World Learning”

This Project aims to enhance the role of rural youth in civil developmental work. The project targeted 25 young men and women from Haifan District, Taiz Governorate. The participants were trained on the following topics: Life skills (communication, self-management, personal strategic planning) An introduction to civil society organizations, their goals, types of Clusters and their benefits. How to effectively engage in development work and building initiatives. The project ended with a workshop in which a map of the most important issues that need community development interventions was reviewed. Those issues were then distributed to the participants so as to form community initiatives and start finding solutions to them in cooperation with the private sector of the district and local or international organizations. The project was implemented in partnership with Yemen Peace School Organization (YPS)

Enhance the capabilities of journalists in the field of conflict-sensitive journalism. The project aims to enhance the capabilities of young journalists in conflict-sensitive journalism. The program provided participants with the following knowledge and skills: Peace building concepts and the opportunities to build peace. Conflict concepts, its stages, its analysis tools and mechanisms to deal with it. Conflict-sensitive journalism and sensitive journalists. Methods of media coverage in accordance with the principles and criteria of peace journalism “conflict-sensitive journalism” The participants implemented five awareness sessions for media students in universities. Coming up with press materials according to the peace journalism criteria. After the training was completed, a manual entitled “Peace Journalism” was issued, as well as a booklet containing a group of humanitarian stories written by the participants as training outputs.
