Monday, February 26, 2024 Taiz – Sheba youth`s  media unit In the presence of representatives from local authorities and the Social Affairs Office, a series of training courses began as part of the project “Empowering Women and Civil Society in Political Processes and Peacebuilding in Yemen,” organized by the Sabaa Youth Foundation in Taiz in collaboration with the National Democratic Institute (NDI). Sixty female leaders from political parties and civil society in Taiz are participating in these courses. Empowering Women through Training: Supporting Leadership Skills and Conflict Management The course aims to enhance the participants’ skills in conflict management and deepen their understanding of advocacy and accountability concepts, with a focus on activating UN Resolution 1325 and understanding peace agreements. Opening Session The opening session was attended by Mr. Qasim Ibrahim, Director General of Media and Public Relations in the Governorate, Mr. Fuad Abdullah, Deputy Director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office, Ms. Ola Al-Agbary, Senior Program Manager at the NDI, and Ms. Walaa Abdullah, representing Sabaa Youth. Ms. Walaa Abdullah, representing Sabaa Youth, opened the session by praising the efforts of the participants and expressing her great confidence in their abilities. She emphasized their ability to make a difference and lead the political scene. She affirmed the importance of such events in empowering women and enhancing their pivotal role in community building and active participation in political life. During the inauguration, Mr. Fuad Abdullah, Deputy Director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office, praised the efforts of Sabaa Youth, emphasizing the importance of women’s representation in the political arena and enhancing their role in society. Ms. Ola Al-Agbary, Senior Program Manager at the NDI, emphasized the importance of building women’s capacities and empowering them to become leaders in the political scene. In his speech, Mr. Qasim Ibrahim, Director General of Media and Public Relations in the Governorate, called for achieving party diversity and enhancing the role of women in the political arena. He stressed the importance of building their capacities and engaging in qualification courses to achieve effective development in society. These courses represent a significant step towards enhancing the role of women in peacebuilding and promoting their participation in the political process.
